Caucuses

The California Anti-Racism Alliance organizes through our caucuses, which are collectives of California-based alumni of REI and GWI workshops and trainings working with a shared analysis of historical and structural racism. Our local and statewide caucuses come together to apply and put REI/GWI’s race analysis into action by building collective power.

Our local caucuses are made up of 1) existing organizations that engage with CARA-hosted trainings that have adopted the REI/GWI’s race analysis as well as 2) caucuses that were formed from the ground up by CARA’s alumni base in a particular city or region. If a local caucus does not yet exist in your area, CARA will help you work with you to build it.

We are building toward a statewide caucus to convene all local caucuses and all California-based REI and GWI alumni in order to share and network across different regions and to organize on statewide issues. We are currently focused on building our local caucuses before regularly convening our statewide caucus, though we will be holding general meetings for all CARA members in the near future.
